F A T S H A M I N G:- This week I went to the gym after 3 weeks off. After telling a woman at the gym that I'd been abroad for 2 weeks, she told me (not once but twice) that I had "definitely put on weight" πŸ€”. A couple of days later, a sponsored post appeared on my instagram from @womenshealthuk (or women's unhealth should I say), telling me how to get "thinner thighs" πŸ€”. WHAT THE HELL. Why in this day and age is this a thing? When is it ever appropriate to talk about someone's weight, uninvited? (It's not). Why are we being made to feel that we need thinner thighs? We certainly do not πŸ–•. It saddens me that some think it's appropriate to comment on a person's weight gain/weight loss without invitation. It is never OK. I have a thick skin but some do not and that sort of unhelpful comment can be damaging and spiral into something far more serious. In the above photos, I am a healthy weight for my build in both. The left is 18 months ago. The right is today. I used to calorie count and train twice a day in the lead up to a holiday. Now I just enjoy my food and train when I can fit it into my busy schedule. Have I put on weight? Yes. Am I overweight and miserable now? No! I am pretty happy and also pretty damn grateful that I was able to go on such an incredible trip to New Zealand. I am also grateful that I have food on the table every day. I am happy trying to be the best version of myself and if that means missing the gym because I work late now and again and enjoying pizza and my favourite sweets when I fancy them, then I am happy about that 😊. So this is a reminder that you are bloody beautiful whatever size and shape that you are and anyone who tells you differently is irrelevant. Take time to focus on loving your inside as well as your outside as looks are only skin deep. Those extra 5-10 lbs, where your body naturally wants to be, those are your memories, your trips, your spontaneous nights, your fun times, your life 😊. #weightgain #gainingweightiscool #selflove #selfcare #loveyourself #fitfam #loveyourbody #girlgains #fitness #motivation #positivity #happiness
